The Art Of Lee Farrell

IMG_3383[1].JPG

A warm welcome to my new website.

"To be an artist is to believe in life." - Henry Moore

Cagney.JPG

I am a freelance artist who lives in Bexhill-on-sea on the south coast of England. Art has been a passion of mine from a very young age. I hold a Batchelor of Arts Degree in Illustration and a National Diploma in cartooning and I specalise in drawing faces, whether that be cult characters from film and tv or creepy creatures and monsters.

Over time I've develped a style that blends photorealism with my own interpretation of the person or sometimes creature I'm studying.

Just go to my portfollio page to see more of my work visit my shop if you wish to make a purchase of one of many high quality mounted prints.

"Oh and just one more thing...!"

I have worked as a freelance artist for over 20 years. My work has extended to text book illustrations, advertising art, props for film and tv, theatre set design, t-shirt design and predominately private commissions.

I work in mixed media, using fine nibbed pens and pencil. In particular I love using the crosshatching technique, which utilizes parallel, intersecting lines which allows me to slowly build up shading.

For variation and to make things more interesting I often use acrylics too, as you can see with my portrait of Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo right.  Which is also available to buy as a high quality print at my shop page.

From an early age I was drawn to art and creativity. I've had some interesting jobs over the years too,  including working in the BBC props department at the television center in London, which you can read a little about on my About page.

I hope you enjoy exploring my new website. I've tried to keep it light and simple, including various examples of my artwork which I hope will appeal to everyone.

'I love making monsters and in addition to drawing I love working in clay too!'

'Life is full of little details and bringing them to life on the page is my goal.'

Like most people I have a lot of interests. But film and comic books or graphic novels as they're popularly refered to these are a huge passion of mine. So alongside my portraits and sculptures I've included some work of my cartooning.

Back in the 90s I was lucky enough to work as a cartoonist. I've done my best to include some of that work on this website but partly due to the fact of having no internet way back then quite a bit of it has gone. But I really hope you enjoy what remains and I've got lots of new work on show too.
